A small number of high schools have sports teams in Germany and Edebali was playing football for club teams in Hamburg and Cologne in 2005 when he introduced himself to John Lyons, who was coaching the Cologne Centurions of NFL Europe. Edebali was able to get a scholarship with USA Football’s International Student Program with the help of Lyons. He became one of nine German students within the ISP, including four at Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, N.H., where Lyons is the coach. Lyons said, “Some of these kids come over with a pretty good understanding of football and skills, once we learned their best position, some of the techniques were new to them. For the most part, I’m amazed how quickly a player like Kasim can pick up things.”

A German woman at the age of 64 has given birth to a healthy baby girl, a national record and her first child after years of unfruitful attempts and false pregnancies, a report says. Dr Elias Karam at the Aschaffenburg clinic in southern Bavaria said that the mother and new born child are doing well. The report says the delivery was done by caesarian section and the child weighed two kilograms. While the woman became the oldest German to given birth, it was far from a world record. A Spanish woman of 67 gave birth to twins at the end of the year 2006 and before that a Romanian woman at 66 gave birth to twins. Dr Karam said, “This woman came to me because she needed my help. As a doctor, I gave it without question.”
At First United Methodist Church on Thompson Bridge Road in Gainesville, the Gainesville Multicultural Committee held its 11th Annual Christmas is One Language Concert. The concert was devoted to the memory of St. John’s Baptist Church Choir Ministers of Music and Accompanists Marcus Stephens and Tim Cantrell. The concert was done to remember Marcus Stephens and Tim Cantrell, both died this year. St. John’s Baptist Church, , Soloists Enrique Montiel and Luz Piedad Lopez, the Fair Street Elementary School Choir, Gainesville High School Crimson Chorus, and Ballet Mexicano de Lupita Sosa and First United Methodist Handbell Choir participated in the concert. All the credit was given to both Stephens and Cantrell, they contributed to the success concert which has become a Christmas tradition in North Georgia.

At Claremont Preparatory School in Lower Manhattan, 5th grade students are required to take the most popular dialect of Chinese “Mandarin”, only if the student wants to continue with the Chinese. Headmaster of Claremont school, Irwin Shlachter said “It has been a huge success, more than 60 percent of our fifth grade students continue on with Mandarin when it comes to the time to choose a language.” Shlachter also said “Americans are traditionally comfortable speaking only one language, and we are changing that, it is our job as educators to prepare this generation of young people for the global community of the future.” A number of people are interested in learning Chinese for different reasons like business, travel, education and the most interesting reason is people love the culture and want to be part of it. Shlachter said that learning Chinese is not at all difficult and you will get the tones if you practice for thirty minutes daily.
A German court found eighteen years young man guilty for provocation related to a racist attack against a group of Indian people that injured 14 people in the eastern German state of Saxony. This man was ordered to pay 600 euros to an association for the protection of kids. The incident has generated anger in Germany when photos of the injured Indians were seen on the front pages of all major media in the country. throughout the proceedings, the defendant admitted to shouting racist slogans as a festival in the town of Mügeln was drawing to a close A crowd of about 50 people chased eight Indians across a street after an incident on a dance floor set up on the town square. They took refuge in a pizzeria. Prosecutors said they had found enough evidence to charge four Germans.
